Entry Requirements
Membership Entry Requirements
IESL WA welcomes applications from Sri Lankan engineers at all stages of their career. The following entry requirements apply for each membership category:
Student Membership
Open to students currently enrolled in an accredited engineering degree programme at an Australian or recognised international university.
- Current enrolment in an engineering programme
- Proof of student status (student ID or enrolment letter)
- Endorsement from two current IESL members (optional but encouraged)
Graduate Membership
For recent graduates within 5 years of completing an accredited engineering degree.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering from an accredited institution
- Proof of graduation
- Sri Lankan heritage (birth, citizenship, or long-term residency in Sri Lanka)
Associate Membership
For engineers with 3+ years of professional experience.
- Accredited engineering degree
- Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience
- Two referee endorsements from current IESL members or registered engineers
Professional Membership (MIESL)
For experienced engineers who meet the competency requirements.
- Accredited engineering degree (4-year programme)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive engineering experience
- Demonstration of competencies as per IESL requirements
- Two endorsements from Professional Members or above
- Current membership of IESL Sri Lanka (for MIESL status)
Fellow (FIESL)
The highest grade of IESL membership, for distinguished engineers.
- Minimum 10 years of professional membership
- Significant contributions to the engineering profession
- Recommendation by the IESL WA Committee
